Here is an early prediction for where Jets will pick at 2027 NFL Draft

TheNew York Jetsare loaded up ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft even though we're still a very long ways away from next offseason.

USA TODAY

It's well known that the Jets hold three first-round selections at the 2027 draft.Sports Illustratedprojected where all 32 first-round picks will be at next year's draft... including the trio held by Gang Green.

The two that headed to New York via trades withIndianapolis Coltsand Dallas Cowboys end up being predicted to be at No. 14 and 15, respectively.

But the all important one will likely be the Jets' original Round 1 selection. That's because it's the one that could put the team in the best position to draft their quarterback of the future once the Geno Smith era is over.

That originalJetspick is slated to be No. 3 overall. Two teams that could also select top QBs at the 2027 draft in theMiami DolphinsandArizona Cardinalsare projected to have the top-two picks, respectively.

But it's still a great position to be in if the Jets still want quarterback next offseason.ESPNrecently projected as many as six quarterbacks could be selected in the first round in 2027.

SI's breakdown of the top projected picks at the 2027 draft can be found below:

What immediately sticks out is how the projected top-four will probably all be in the race for quarterbacks. The Miami Dolphins signed Malik Willis as a temporary solution to their full-blown rebuild. The Jets have the aforementioned three-first round picks with Geno Smith and Cade Klubnik at QB. TheCleveland Brownswill sort through the Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders mess, and the Arizona Cardinals will firmly be in the market, too.

Agent of Giants' Chris Manhertz trying to make Italy’s flag football team

Sean Stellato, the agent representingNew York Giantstight end Chris Manhertz and formerly spotlighted alongside quarterback Tommy DeVito, is pursuing a new athletic challenge.

USA TODAY

The 48-year-old Massachusetts native was in Copenhagen, Denmark, over the weekend trying out for Italy’s Men’s National Flag Football Team.

Stellato, who played receiver at Marist College and spent time in the AF2 developmental league, hopes to earn a roster spot for the 2026 World Championship in August. Strong performances there could help Italy qualify for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Known for his flamboyant style and deep Italian heritage, Stellato gained widespread attention in New York during DeVito’s 2023 breakout season with the Giants. New York fans embraced the pair’s charismatic, Italian-American flair. In 2024,Stellato notably met Pope Francisand presented him with a custom football featuring the Pope’s coat of arms.

"I’m incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity to honor my Italian heritage by trying out for the Italian National Team, with the chance to represent Italy later this summer and beyond,”Stellato told the New York Post. “Thank you to my family, friends, and especially my clients for all of the support, encouragement, and inspiration along the way."

Stellato continues to represent Manhertz, DeVito (now with the New England Patriots), and other NFL clients while chasing this international dream.

How Helio Castroneves can make history at 2026 Indy 500

In 2001, a Brazilian rookie named Helio Castroneves started his first Indianapolis 500. 25 years later, he can leave America's most iconic track having done something no other driver has in the race's 109 runnings.

USA TODAY

Castroneves is one of four to have won the Indy 500 four times, including in that first go-round in 2001. A fifth would put him in a stratosphere all to himself. The 51-year-old star last etched his face on the Borg Warner Trophy in 2021, but remains a viable contender on the pavement even as he's wound down his IndyCar career. In the years since he's won multiple 24 Hours of Daytona crowns as well as two Petit Le Mans titles -- though both are team events.

If Castroneves can rise upafter qualifying in 14th position, he'll add another bullet point to his argument behind "greatest IndyCar driver of all time." Here's who he's looking to separate himself from, as well as the other drivers who can inch closer to open wheel immortality Sunday.

Who are the drivers who've won four Indy 500s?

Castroneves won his Baby Borgs (the miniature version of the trophy given to race winners) in 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2021. That put him in rarified air alongside:

  • A.J. Foyt: 1961, 1964, 1967, 1977

  • Al Unser Sr.: 1970, 1971, 1978, 1987

  • Rick Mears: 1979, 1984, 1988, 1991

Which drivers can win a third Indy 500 in 2026?

Two drivers in this year's field have two wins to their name. Takuma Sato won in 2017 and 2020. Josef Newgarden won back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024.

Where does Bills' James Cook rank among NFL running backs in 2026?

TheBuffalo Billsare known for quarterback Josh Allen but running back James Cook is up there for the team, too.

USA TODAY

Cook signed afour-year extensionlast offseason worth $48 million. That average of his contract makes him tied as the running back with the 11th highest salary in the NFL heading into 2026.

Does Cook outrank that pay status? According to SleeperNFL, the answer is yes.

However, Bills Mafia might think he deserves to be higher than the ranking.

Cook landed in the No. 8 overall spot in the outlet's running back list:

A big reason for thinking Cook is overlooked is his 1,621 rushing yards last season. That led the NFL in 2025, so thinking of a rank higher than eighth would be fair.

But with the quarterback league the NFL is, it simply is Allen's shine keeping Cook that low. Even so, Buffalo does not take Cook for granted.

Bills Wirewill continue to provide updates throughout the 2026 offseason.

One-sentence wish for the Washington Commanders' 2026 season

Ahead of the 2025 season, theWashington Commandershad an aura of hope around the organization for the first time in a long time. After making it to the NFC Championship game in 2024, the team (and the league) had high expectations for then-second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels.

USA TODAY

Unfortunately, that hope was short-lived. In their Week 2 matchup against theGreen Bay Packers, the Commanders lost edge rusher Deatrich Wise Jr. and running back Austin Ekeler for the remainder of the season. Jayden Daniels injured his knee and battled injuries for the remainder of the season, and in Week 9 against theSeattle Seahawks, he sustained an injury that would keep him on the sidelines even longer. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin, for the first time in his NFL career, missed significant time with an injury.

In that Week 9 game vs. Seattle, the Commanders also lost Marshon Lattimore and Luke McCaffrey, which was essentially the proverbial nail in the coffin for the 2025 season.

We're past all of that now, though, and general manager Adam Peters has made some changes and upgrades to the roster while Dan Quinn made some coaching staff adjustments. There is still an aura of hope around this team, although in 2026 it's closer to cautious optimism than actual hope. Bleacher Report recently named aone-sentence dreamfor every NFL team, and the Commanders got a two-parter:

Washington Commanders:Jayden Daniels recaptures the magic from his rookie season and stays healthy, while a new-look defense boosted by rookie Sonny Styles goes from liability to asset in a deep playoff run.

Technically, it's still one sentence, but the author managed to combine both offense and defense into the Commanders' wish.

Daniels is ready to recapture the magic he made in 2024. He could have done it last year had he been healthy, but injuries were a problem. So, he has to keep his positive mentality and ability to overcome adversity, but he also needs to stay healthy. Without him on the field, the offense simply isn't the same.

Defensively, there's no question that the new-look defense becomes an asset. Sonny Styles definitely gave the defense a boost, but he's not alone out there. The Commanders added several other pieces that are integral to their success, and they all have to do their part to make it happen.

Warriors mock draft roundup: Golden State eying Mexican prospect

Basketball experts are pinning down their mock selections over a month away from the 2026 NBA Draft on June 23-24.

USA TODAY

This draft class anticipates having among the best crop of talent to enter the league with players such as AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, Caleb Wilson and Darryn Peterson.

TheGolden State Warriorshave to decide whether to will draft a prospect or trade their No. 11 pick.

Despite being heavy buyers in the trade market, the consensus is that Golden State will retain their pick and lean into scouting for the right piece. Head coach Steve Kerr looks forward to that selection and believes developing that pick will be a "huge factor" in their 2026-27 season.

"I think we're in a different place now. Right, there's no question. And I've talked to Mike (Dunleavy, the Warriors GM), I mean, I don't know the draft, but he feels really strongly that we're going to get a good player. It could be a 19 year old, it could be someone older,"Kerr told reporters.

The Warriors have been linked to a number of players, such as Michigan forward Yaxel Lendeborg, Arizona guard Brayden Burries and Michigan center Aday Mara.

USA TODAY Sports' Bryan Kalbroskypredicts Karim López going to the Warriors as the first-ever Mexican-born NBA draft selection. Kalbrosky described Lopez as "physically gifted, athletic, and universally seen as the top prospect from this class currently playing overseas."

"He exploded for 32 points (11-of-13 FG) with eight rebounds, two blocks and one steal against Melbourne on Jan. 30. Despite his age, he played a huge role for his team defensively for a team that won the NBL Ignite Cup. López measured well, weighing just shy of 222 pounds and 38-inch max vertical," Kalbrosky wrote.

Whoever is brought in, Kerr emphasized the Warriors' commitment to that players' development.

"It's obvious where we are with the injuries toMoses (Moody) andJimmy (Butler), you look at our depth on the wings, that guy has to play, and he's got to earn it, you know, but we're committed to absolutely, you know, the development of our young players," Kerr said. "(We're) trying to do this thing in a way that allows for success down the road. Down the road meaning the end of next season and beyond, and we're excited about that."

Here are mock draft predictions from sports experts, specifically for theGolden State Warriors:

Penn State miss out on former O-line commit

While theNittany LionslostLayton Von Brandtearlier in the recruiting cycle and were not the favorites to land him again, many expected him to sign with theNotre Dame Fighting Irish. However, after moving up his commitment date to today, he went a highly unexpected route. Instead of following several other four star O-linemen to South Bend, Von Brandt committed to theAuburn Tigers. While Penn State will be disappointed that he did not stick with his early intentions, it somewhat feels like a win after Penn State lost out on many players to theFighting Irishon the recruiting trail.

USA TODAY

For now, this leaves theNittany Lionswithout a four star lineman amongst their class, but still enough talent at the position to get by. With local recruits in David Tarawallie and Ryan Robbins, Campbell could have two bookend tackles of the future. They also have some interior talent with Jon Sassic and Owen Reilly. However, Notre Dame being spurned is the bigger takeaway as they looked to continue to stockpile at the position. Auburn's win is perhaps a testament to their persistence in recruiting him and both Penn State and Notre Dame landing other commits at the position, thus losing focus on Von Brandt.

Now all eyes will be on another prospect, this time three star Lucas Rhoa, who locked down an official visit. For now, the sting of losing Von Brandt hurts just a little less than potentially expected.

USA TODAY report shows how conference realignment crushed the Pac-12

It was obviously a disaster for the Pac-12 Conference that the league splintered and watched USC leave. The Trojans left for the Big Ten, as did UCLA, Oregon and Washington from the West Coast. The Arizona schools left for the Big 12. So did Utah and Colorado. Cal and Stanford left for the ACC.Now USA TODAY Sports has detailson the extent to which the Pac-12's collapse crushed conference revenue.

USA TODAY

"The numbers in it are jarring but also a reminder that this is a league that is building back up soon withseven incoming full members in 2026. The tax return was obtained from the league by USA TODAY Sports for fiscal year 2025, which runs from July 2024 through June 2025, a year in which Oregon State and Washington State were the Pac-12’s only members. Here is what it shows:

"Revenue collapsed from $566.6 million in fiscal 2024 to $111.5 million in fiscal 2025. This is primarily because there was a drastic reduction in television companies wanting to pay for their games. The league’s television rights fees went down to $3 million from $381 million in the previous fiscal year, when the Pac-12 still had 12 members.  Oregon State and Washington State football games in 2024 were televised byThe CW Network and Fox Sports. The depleted revenue stream also led to a deficit of $21.7 million after $133.2 million in expenses.

“'FY25 is the first of two build-up years ahead of the Pac-12’s launch as a new conference beginning with the 2026-27 season,' the league said in a news release May 15. That’s when the league will add Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State."

The Pac-12 could have played its cards differently ... but it didn't. The costs can now be seen in full.

Gina Carano details shocking weight loss before Ronda Rousey fight

The most startling stat about the fight betweenRonda Rousey and Gina Caranomight have surfaced the day before bout takes place, Saturday, May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

USA TODAY

It was a day earlier, on Friday, after the official weigh-in whenCarano took to Instagram.

“Ok. Vulnerable post but here we are," she wrote. “I just weighed in at 141.4 lbs. Since Sept 2024 to today, May 15, 2026, I have lost 100lbs. It hurts to say that and share but I am going to share it because I worked so damn hard every week for over a year and a half to shed this weight. It did not happen overnight."

If the weight loss happened steadily, that’s five pounds a month for approximately 20 months.

At her old weight of 240 pounds, the 5-foot-8 Carano would have weighed only 17 pounds less than the 6-foot-4Francis Ngannoudid at the weigh-in Friday for his heavyweight bout against Philipe Lins.

Both Rousey and Carano were required to weigh no more than 145 pounds for their fight, the main event on the 11-fight card. Carano did that with ease and do did Rousey, who came in at 142 pounds.

“If it wasn’t for having this incredibly challenging goal in fighting@rondarouseyI most definitely wouldn’t have reached this," Carano wrote. “I was pre-diabetic, had trouble simply walking in September and have been on the path to recovery to turn myself back into an athlete since then."

Another big prediction for Titans QB Cam Ward in 2026

Wednesday turned out to be another banner day forTennessee Titansquarterback Cam Ward. Not only did the league and Netflix announce that his journey to the NFL was documented for the show "Quarterback," which debuts on July 14, but he also made another list of potential breakout players.

USA TODAY

The latest to buy into Ward and a potential jump in 2026 is Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus (PFF) who has Ward asthe quarterback on his All-Breakout team.

Quarterback: Cameron Ward,Tennessee Titans

The 2025 quarterback class wasn’t as star-studded as the one prior, but it’s already produced three starters with upside going into 2026. Picking any of Ward, Tyler Shough or Jaxson Dart to excel in Year 2 would be valid, but Ward feels like the most logical selection.

Ward’s rookie campaign didn’t go quite as expected, finishing with a 56.4 PFF passing grade and more turnover-worthy plays (23) than big-time throws (21). Yet Ward showed real flashes, including compiling three games with at least a 78.7 overall PFF grade in Week 12 or later. Plus, Ward’s receiving corps earned just the 27th-best PFF receiving grade.

The circumstances are now significantly better for the former No. 1 overall pick going into his second season. Ward has two major assets at receiver in No. 4 selection Carnell Tate as well as former Giant Wan’Dale Robinson, who can help attack every area of the field. Add in new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, and the pieces should be there for Ward’s sky-high talent to consistently materialize.

Ward and the entire Titans’ offense should be in a much better place heading into 2026 with an actual playcalling offensive coordinator running the show. Ward didn’t start to flash until the second half of 2025 after Brian Callahan, and his lack of feel for playcalling, was fired.

Now, with Daboll calling the plays, and what appears to be an improved receiving corps, Ward should be able to take a giant step forward this season.

In an exclusive clip from the Tuesday, May 12 episode of iHeartRadio'sI've Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDariopodcast, theLive with Kelly and Markco-host became emotional while reflecting on the death of his father,Saul Consuelos, whodied in March 23 after a lengthy illness.

“You know, I lost my father five weeks ago,” Consuelos tells host Tommy DiDario, in a conversation taped on May 1. “And it was kind of a brutal five-month saga leading up to him passing. I knew it was happening. We all knew, this is going to happen.”

The actor, who is currently starring in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival ofFallen Angelson Broadway, says he prayed for “a merciful exit” for his father and was grateful that “it happened that way — very quickly and painlessly.”

Still, even though he tried to emotionally prepare himself for "the eventuality" of the loss ahead of time, when his father died, the reality hit hard.

“My father’s a mythical character to me,” Consuelos explains. “He’s, like, the best man I’ve ever met. Everything good that I’ve kind of globbed onto of how I carry myself comes from him.”

“I guess what I haven’t said is, I miss my dad,” he continues. “I’ve never said that. I’ve never said, ‘I miss my dad.’ Because he’s always been in my life. He’s always been available to me.”

The 55-year-old says he was in tech rehearsals forFallen Angelswhen his father died, forcing him to “compartmentalize” his grief while continuing to work on the production. “It was a welcomed distraction because I had to do this,” he says.

But when his family gathered for a memorial service, the loss became more real. “We just had a memorial for him this past Monday, where the family all got together,” he says. “And the reality of him being gone hit, of himactuallybeing gone.”

Though he says he still feels his father’s presence strongly, the actor became emotional while describing what he misses most.

“I am starting to…,” Consuelos says before taking a deep breath. “I’m going to miss just giving him a hug and holding his hand and just laughing with him. That’s something I’ve never said in my life. I’m going to miss my dad.”

DiDario went on to thank Consuelos for sharing the moment, pointing out how helpful his words would be to "anyone going through their grief right now.”

"He’s certainly proud of you," DiDario says. "Look at everything you’re doing. Broadway star!"

That inspired Consuelos to share how he honors his father before walking onstage each night. “I do look up in the house every now and again,” he says. “You can’t really see, because of the lights. And I kind of picture [him]. I think about him before I go on stage.”
